At the direction of Chief Gregory Wilson, the following protocols regarding response to Calls for Service will be implemented beginning Thursday, March 26th, 2020, at 12:01 am, and will remain in effect until further notice.
We will not be responding to non-violent property crimes or crimes not in progress. Officers will only respond to the following calls for service:
- Crimes in progress (i.e. theft, burglary, robbery)
- Crimes of Violence (i.e. domestic violence, assault, shooting, stabbing, etc.)
- Crimes requiring the collection of evidence
- Backup for other agencies (i.e. law enforcement, fire, EMS, etc.) as required.
Response to traffic crashes will be limited to the following:
- Injury Crashes
- Vehicles disabled, and blocking traffic, and possibly requiring a tow.
- Unusual Circumstances (i.e. OVI, utility pole struck, wires down, etc.)
Chief Wilson will reserve the option to approve response to other circumstances that may not be covered above.
The purpose of this limited response is to limit the contact our officers have with potentially ill individuals. We also request that residents meet the officers outside to discuss their issue.
The Valleyview Police department is dedicated to village safety.
Our speed limits are strictly enforced because our village residents enjoy walking, jogging, biking, and walking their dogs. Please drive as if it were you or your family.
